This statue was part of the western pediment of the aetom of the Temple of Zeus in ancient Olympia, home of the ancient Olympic Games. This pediment - exhibited at the Archaeological Museum in Olympia - depicts the abduction of the Lapith women by Centaurs, and has Apollo as its central figure.Dated to 5th century B.C.
Made of bonded marble and coated with a special bronze patina.
