Masterfully handmade Byzantine oil lamp from the island of Corfu. Oil lamps like this are found only in monasteries and churches all over Greece and rarely in private homes.
They are genuine ecclesiastical items, handmade of gold plated brass.
Traditionally these lamps hang in the church and burn in front of icons of Saints keeping their spirit alive. Under each oil lamp hangs a small two headed eagle, the symbol of the Byzantine empire.
The lamp comes along with a pack of special wicks. The chain has a standard length of 45 cm (18 in.).
