Exact museum reproduction of a fine ancient Greek Attic Geometric
Amphora.
Our Greek pottery items are handmade in Greece in a small family
workshop using natural quality materials, superb craftsmanship and
attention to detail. They are licensed and modeled after museum
pieces from all over the world and bear the lead seal of authenticity.
This amphora features a typical funeral scene. Notice the figure laid
out horizontally with three standing men to the right, three standing
men to the left, and four grieving women below. The men have their
hands on their head, perhaps tearing their hair out. This is a typical
sign of grief. Much pottery produced at this time were found in
cemeteries and they were commemorative.
