This is a striking reproduction
of the head of the famous Apollo of Olympia statue. This statue was part of the western
pediment of the aetom of the Temple of Zeus in ancient Olympia, home of the ancient
Olympic Games. This pediment - exhibited at the Archaeological Museum in Olympia - depicts
the abduction of the Lapith women by Centaurs, and has Apollo as its central figure. It is
dated to 5th century B.C.
