Spartan Elite Warrior, 480 BC

The Spartan Elite Warriors were an elite troop of hardened, experienced veterans who undertook the most dangerous and difficult tasks of war. The most famous one was the 300 of the battle of Thermopylae under the leadership of King Leonidas in 480 BC.

Macedonian Hoplite with typical armament. Their 6m (20 ft) long spear, the sarisa, was the most lethal infantry weapon known to the ancient world before the Romans. A firm, well trained squad of Macedonian sarisa-bearers was impossible to stop on open ground.
