Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine

Hippocrates, the father of Medicine (460-377 BC), was the greatest physician of antiquity, and is regarded as the father of medicine. Born on the island of Kos, Greece, Hippocrates traveled widely before settling on Kos to practice and teach medicine. He died in Larissa, Greece. He has conceived the Hippocratic Oath, taken by Medical School graduates all over the world still today. His teachings, sense of detachment, and ability to make direct, clinical observations influenced the ancient medicine and freed it from superstition.
