Komboloi or worry beads is a string of beads manipulated with one or two hands and used to pass time in Greek culture. Komboloi serves as a relaxation, enjoyment, and generally passing the time, as an amulet to guard against bad luck as well as a mark of power and social prestige. This is a beautifully handmade scented komboloi with 17 beads of genuine Greek Almond tree wood.
Our Handcrafted Wood collection komboloi are all made from Greek wood collected from the Greek countryside. The wood in its natural state is placed in a shady place and covered with sawdust for about 12 to 16 months, so that it expels all traces of moisture.
During the handmade processing each bead is sculpted by hand. After giving it its shape, the beads are sanded with 5 different sandpaper grades to achieve perfect form and smoothness. Finally the beads are coated with natural beeswax and essential oils.
All metal parts are 925o proof silver. This process guarantees that each komboloi is unique and doesn’t look like any other even from the same piece of wood.
The komboloi comes with a written guarantee certificate.
