An exquisite Greek Orthodox Icon of St. Paula of Rome, handmade & handpainted by an expert Greek hagiographer.
Saint Paula of Rome (AD347-404) was a Roman saint and early Desert Mother. At the age of 32, Paula was widowed. She continued to dedicate herself to her family, but became more interested in religion as time went on.
While on pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Egypt, she settled in Bethlehem and established a monastery for men and a convent for women.
Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera,
24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques.
The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the seal of authenticity on the back.
We can have any image or Christian scene hand made on commission. Please take a look at an indicative list of additional icons available, or contact us for more information.
