A beautiful Greek Orthodox icon of the Annunciation of Virgin Mary, handmade & hand painted by an expert Greek hagiographer.
The Annunciation (or Evangelismos in Greek) to the Theotokos, one of the Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church, celebrated on March 25.
According to the Gospel of Luke 1:26-38, the Archangel Gabriel appeared to Mary to announce to her that she would conceive and bear a son, even though she “knew no man.” According to holy tradition Mary had come home to her parents when she was only fifteen when she was visited by Gabriel.
Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques. It is an exact reproduction of an antique Byzantine masterpiece.
The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the certificate of authenticity on the back.
We can have any image or Christian scene hand made on commission. Please take a look at an indicative list of additional icons available, or contact us for more information.
