Unique design of a beautiful ancient Greek black figured
Lebes Gamikos, a wedding libation bowl.
Our Greek pottery items are handmade in Greece in a small family
workshop using natural quality materials, superb craftsmanship and
attention to detail. They are licensed and modeled after museum
pieces from all over the world and bear the lead seal of authenticity.
Wedding libation bowls were used in marriage ceremonies (literally,
lebes gamikos means marriage vase). It was probably used in the
ritual sprinkling of the bride with water before the wedding. In form,
it has a large bowl-like body and a stand that can be long or short.
Painted scenes are placed on either the body of the vessel or the stand.
