Exact museum reproduction of a fine ancient Greek Minoan Amphora. (more information on Minoan pottery…)
This amphora features a squid design in the marine style. In this style, the tendency to zoning is dropped and a new repertoire of sea-creatures is introduced. Corals, seaweed and sponges are spread all over the vase. It was one of the most successful styles of Cretan art.
About 1500-1400 BC. National Archaeological Museum, Athens.
