Exact museum reproduction of a fine ancient Greek black figured Laconian Kylix, a vessel used for drinking wine at symposia.
The kylix is attributed to the painter Boreads and depicts Bellerophon fighting the Chimaera. Bellerophon has dismounted his trusted winged horse, Pegasus, and engages the Chimera in a fierce battle by impaling it with his spear. Dated to ca. 565 BC.
The original belongs to the collection of the Getty Villa Museum, CA.
