A beautiful Greek Orthodox icon of St. Aquilina the Virgin Martyr, handmade & hand painted by an expert Greek hagiographer.
Aquilina was born of Christian parents in Biblus, Phoenicia. She was arrested during Diocletian’s persecution of Christian, and though only twelve, was beaten and decapitated by order of the magistrate, Volusian, when she would not renounce her Faith. Her feast day is June 13th.
Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques, this icon is an exact reproduction of an antique Byzantine masterpiece.
The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the seal of authenticity on the back.
