Description

An exquisite Greek Orthodox Icon of St. Benjamin the Martyr, handmade & handpainted by an expert Greek hagiographer.

St. Benjamin (AD 329 – c. 424) was a deacon martyred circa 424 in Persia. St. Benjamin was executed during a period of persecution of Christians that lasted forty years and through the reign of two Persian kings.

Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques, this icon is an exact reproduction of an antique Byzantine masterpiece.

The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the seal of authenticity on the back.
