St. Charissa of Corinth

An exquisite Greek Orthodox Icon of the Holy Martyr Charissa of Corinth, handmade & handpainted by an expert Greek hagiographer.

The Holy Martyr Charissa along with Martyrs Leonidas, Nike, Galina, Kalisa (Kalida), Nunekhia, Basilissa, and Theodora suffered at Corinth in the year 258. They threw them into the sea, but they did not drown. Instead, they walked upon the water as if on dry land, singing spiritual hymns. The torturers overtook them in a ship, tied stones around their necks and drowned them.

St. Charissa is commemorated on April 16.

Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques, this icon is an exact reproduction of an antique Byzantine masterpiece.

The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the seal of authenticity on the back.
