An exquisite Greek Orthodox Icon of St. Constantine XI Palaiologos, handmade & handpainted by an expert Greek hagiographer. p>Constantine XI Dragases Palaiologos (1405 – 29 May 1453), was the last reigning Byzantine Emperor, reigning as a member of the Palaiologos dynasty from 1449 to his death in battle at the fall of Constantinople.
Following his death, he became a legendary figure in Greek folklore as the “Marble Emperor” who would awaken and recover the Empire and Constantinople from the Ottomans.
Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques, this icon is an exact reproduction of an antique Byzantine masterpiece.
The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the seal of authenticity on the back.
We can have any image or Christian scene hand made on commission. Please take a look at an indicative list of additional icons available, or contact us for more information.

The icon I recieved was really beautiful and a lot of work went into it. The price is extremely fair for such a masterpiece and it deserves more attention. Will buy again from this website.
