An exquisite Greek Orthodox Icon of St. David of Evia, handmade & handpainted by an expert Greek hagiographer.
St. David was born around 1500 AD in Lokrida, opposite from the island of Evia in Greece. He is famous for founding the Monastery of Saint David, which is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior, in about 1535-1540 AD and where he lived his monastic life there in the 16th century. His relics, his censer, his priestly stole, and other treasures are within the church of the Monastery.
St. David is commemorated on November 1 each year.
Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques, this icon is an exact reproduction of an antique Byzantine masterpiece. The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the seal of authenticity on the back.
We can have any image or Christian scene hand made on commission. Please take a look at an indicative list of additional icons available, or contact us for more information.
