An exquisite Greek Orthodox Icon of St. Felicity.
Saint Felicity was a rich and pious Christian widow who had seven sons. She devoted herself to charitable work and converted many to the Christian faith by her example. This aroused the wrath of pagan priests who lodged a complaint against her with Emperor Marcus Aurelius.
Before the Prefect Publius Felicity and her sons adhered firmly to their religion and were condemned to various modes of death. Felicity accompanied her sons one by one until she had witnessed the death of all seven. After each execution she was given the chance to denounce her faith. She refused to act against her conscience and so she too suffered martyrdom.
Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques.
The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the seal of authenticity on the back.
We can have any image or Christian scene hand made on commission. Please take a look at an indicative list of additional icons available, or contact us for more information.
