An exquisite Greek Orthodox Icon of St. Lawrence.
St. Lawrence (died 258, Rome ) is one of the most venerated Roman martyrs, celebrated for his Christian valour. He is the patron saint of the poor and of cooks.
St. Lawrence was among the seven deacons of the Roman church which were executed during the persecution under the Roman emperor Valerian. It is said that Lawrence gave the church’s treasures to the poor and the sick before his arrest. His feast day is August 10.
Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques.
The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the seal of authenticity on the back.
We can have any image or Christian scene hand made on commission. Please take a look at an indicative list of additional icons available, or contact us for more information.
