An exquisite Greek Orthodox Icon of St. Macrina the Younger, handmade
& handpainted by an expert Greek hagiographer.
Saint Macrina the Younger (330 – 379) was a nun in the Early Christian Church and is a prominent saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church. She is significant in that her brother, Saint Gregory of Nyssa, was able to set standards for being a holy Early Christian woman. He believed that virginity reflected the “radiant purity of God.” Her feast day is the 19 July.
Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques, this icon is an exact reproduction of an antique Byzantine masterpiece.
The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the seal of authenticity on the back.
We can have any image or Christian scene hand made on commission. Please take a look at an indicative list of additional icons available, or contact us for more information.
