A beautiful Greek Orthodox icon of St. Thaney or Teneu, handmade & hand painted by an expert Greek hagiographer.
Saint Teneu was first mentioned in the Life of Saint Winefride. She was the mother of several saints, including Saint Cyndeyrn, or Mungo, of Glasgow. A royal scion of the kingdom of Gododdin in Yr Hen Ogledd, Saint Teneu suffered sexual abuse and attempted execution by her father, before giving birth. She later married a Welsh prince, became an anchoress and founded a hermitage at Gwytherin, where she was mentor to Saint Gwenffrewi. Her feast day is on July 18.
Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques.
The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the seal of authenticity on the back.
We can have any image or Christian scene hand made on commission. Please take a look at an indicative list of additional icons available, or contact us for more information.
