An exquisite silver & gold Greek Orthodox icon of St. Hypomone.
St. Hypomone, born Helene Dragasi (c.1372 – 1450), was the daughter of the emperor of the Slavs Constantine Dragasis and the wife of emperor Manuel II Palaiologos of Constantinople. After the death of her husband she became a nun known by her monastic name of Hypomone which translates in English as Patience.
The memory of St. Hypomone is celebrated on May 29, the day that Constantinople fell to the Ottomans
