The ancient greek Trireme was the most common naval vessel of the era. The Trireme was a warship, that was sometimes used also as cargo ship. It was a very weightless ship. The ingenuity of this ship was that it gathered more oarsmen in three rows – hence the name trireme – in contradiction with other ships of that period, having as a result to increase its propulsive strength, without proportionally having to increase its length.
